Well, hello everyone! Wow it has been far too long since I posted anything on my website. I have written a lot of reviews since these past few months but all of them ended up being shelved as I was far too preoccupied with work. But that's history, and we will let it remain history as present has a lot in store for you & me together. This is just the start and every day as & when I'm done writing, all you readers will get the chance to read the reviews on the latest movies, books & many other topics. Will try to post something everyday!
Now it's time, let's begin talking about Mubarakan, and the infamous pairing of Chacha-Bathija, Anil Kapoor & Arjun Kapoor. First, I'm not going to be bias, but I am a huge fan of Anil Kapoor! Second, I personally loved watching the movie and found it to be very entertaining and funny. Yes, I completely agree that it had a lot of lame comedy, but once in a while it just works out fine.
I think another reason why I liked this movie was because of Anees Bazmee. He creates spectacles, and he has done it again with Mubarakan. And it is such a daunting task for me to even write something about him. This movie had so many layers and plots going on simultaneously to make the audience also feel confused and have them connect with the movie. And the whole movie could have gone haywire because of the multiple plots it went through, but the way Anees Bazmee held the movie, and made it reach its destination without losing anyone in the middle is the beauty of it. For his direction, I don't feel there is a rating that can be given.
But yes, I must say, I was disappointed with the ending. The movie had risen to such a stage that the ending seemed to be something too subtle to expect from such a movie. Not going to give any spoilers as of now. So be rest assured.
Coming back to the actors, Anil Kapoor, the superstar who remains forever young, has held the role to another level. I feel every story needs a silver lining to make it fool-proof, and Anil Kapoor was the silver lining whenever needed. Apart from him, Arjun who is playing a double role for the second time, acted impeccably. And this time around it was way better than Aurangzeb. He fit right in the role. Now, let's get to the ladies, Ileana D'Cruz was seen in a complete different avatar. From all the sweet roles in all her previous she moved on to this daunting task of fitting into a character of a mean bitch. She didn't just pull it off effortlessly, but made it seem like she was made for the role and I found that amazing! As far as Athiya Shetty is concerned, her role felt more like a cameo to me than an actual role. The way she was everywhere during the promotions felt like she had an important role, even the trailer made it seem so, but it was all a gimmick.
Well, all in all it was an amazing movie and I urge you to watch it. It is after a long time that such a genre has come to the silver screen. My rating for this movie is going to be 3 stars.
